Winter School Holiday Program!
We have a host of great opportunities for your school holiday fun! Week long programs at both spaces, Chifley and Kaleen.
Circus holiday programs are the equivalent of an entire term's classes in a single week.
A great way to get ahead with your goals, and a chance to choose a chum to chuck tricks with! Program offerings this winter include:
Half Highs: ages 5-7, half day programs to keep your kids engaged!
Kick Ups: ages 8-12, a full day of circus with time to show off at the end of the week!
Next Step: ages 13+, a week of circus for intermediate students wanting to learn new tricks and make new friends
Troupe Taster: advanced students, by invitation, intensive training to tell you what you need to progress to our Performance Troupe.
Check out our school holiday page on the Warehouse website to learn more!
Why are circus performers called artists?
Because they can really draw a crowd.
Mid Year Show Wrap Up
The Mid Year Show was a rip-roaring success! Two sold out shows, wonderful crowds, and great acts from our next step and performance troupes.
It's been really fabulous watching the development of all the students in performance - more and more of our young artists are embracing their weird and wonderful ideas, and using the act structure and other performance tools they have been learning all this year and last.
So exciting to see our performance class paying off for so many talented people!
It's getting to a point where we might need a new venue just for our mid year show!
If anybody knows a place that might be worth exploring/renovating/ a good place to build, let us know!

Team Building Workshops
Did you know that Warehouse Circus runs team building workshops for workplaces? Up to 24 team members can come to our Chifley space, or, depending on your workplace, we can come to you!
If you are at a convention hall, or have a lot of room at your work, we can scale up in groups of 8 to deliver, fun, challenging, and engaging workshops for professional teams.
These are our fancy pants special workshops, tailored for workplace teams to come together and learn circus, using it as a tool for:
Team building | Group development | Experiential education | Team problem solving | Risk-management | Resilience | Clarity of communication | Identifying appropriate learning goals
Check out our workshops page to learn more!
I joined the circus as a trapeze flyer, but I was let go.
Emerging Artists Program
Do you want to learn what it takes to be a professional in the circus industry? Here’s an opportunity to learn from circus performers and professionals with years of experience!
Our emerging artists program gives students opportunities to develop new work, learn about roving, cabaret, and busking acts, create an ABN and business plan, and heaps more! Participants will leave the program with all the knowledge they need to get started with their own brand and business.
You can learn more about our Emerging Artist program and see if you or your child are eligible by getting in touch with our office via programs@warehousecircus.org.au or talking to your class trainer!
I fell asleep in the human cannon and got fired.
They can try to replace me, but they'll never find someone of the same calibre.
Mullum Circus Festival
The Mullum Circus Festival is happening again! This bonny biennial festival is a fabulous opportunity to see circus in abundance.
Featuring at the festival is the youth circus symposium, a circus training intensive, and a weekend of wild, weird and wonderful works.
MCF is happening from the 20-26 September, and we encourage anyone keen to go, to go!
Chat to us if you're thinking of heading up, and we will see if we can get a Warehouse contingent together. This is not a Warehouse event, but is a key date in the national circus calendar.
Keep in mind that if you are a young person keen to do circus as a career, but find opportunities like this a mite dear, you can apply for a grant here.
Hit up our artistic director, Tom if you want help with the application!
…bad timing, being kicked out of the circus - I was supposed to be the magician's assistant.
he got so mad he pulled out his hare.
A Word From The President
Hullo fellow Warehouse Circus Members
As your incoming President, let me say at the outset how privileged I feel to be leading this great community organisation. The pleasure we bring to so many participants (455 at latest count) is testimony to the quality leadership provided by Executive Director Aleshia and Artistic Director Tom, the 'dream team' as I've heard them described. As the Board moves to finalise the organisation's 5 year Business Plan, I'm confident that we have in Aleshia and Tom, and our broader staff, the qualities that will make implementation of the Plan very doable.
I want to place on record our appreciation to Heather Nicoll and Debra Surman for their time on the Board, and most recently, their periods as President and Vice President respectively.
In the newly elected Board, I believe we have the breadth of diverse experience to take us forward. We have a mix of Board members with many years Warehouse Circus background, joined by four of us with very little experience on this Board. We have a mix of circus performers, public and private sector expertise, gender, age, participants' parents. These backgrounds hold us in good stead.
We have challenges. Primary among these is the funding that is crucial to us continuing and expanding our range of activities. We will explore appropriate sponsorship and philanthropic relationships. Government support for the sector is vital, but we will attempt to diversify our revenue base away from reliance on the merry go round of government grants. There are other sources. In this way, we will hopefully relieve some pressure on the budgets of parents and carers, and improve the salaries of our very talented staff. If you are aware of organisations that may be interested in supporting the Circus in this way, please bring them to our attention.
In closing, thank you again for the opportunity to head up Warehouse Circus. While the brand and reputation of our organisation is very sound, I look forward to working with you to further enhance this and ensure that the Circus is an integral part of Canberra's artistic tapestry.
Best regards
Len Hatch
