Happy July and welcome back to Term 3!
We have so many cool things to tell you about, so we’re going to get straight into it with no extra waffling (nothing against waffles, they’re great and delicious.)
Announcing: The Canberra Circus Festival!
Warehouse Circus is proud to present the Canberra Circus Festival!
Well, not really the whole thing yet, but we are running a little prototype version of the festival this year!
We will be taking over the Erindale Theatre for four days of hectic fun, amazing circus and workshops from September 28 to October 1.
Warehouse Circus will be restaging Interrobang!? for two shows only, as well as our brand spankin' new cabaret, featuring amazing acts from our incredible troupe, special guest acts and professional MCs. A fun night out for all, and tickets are already available!
We have created some great Canberra Circus Festival Merch, including Charcoal Grey Unisex T-Shirts with the Canberra Circus Festival logo (fairtrade, organic T-shirts, made by Etiko! XS -XXL), and stainless steel drinking bottles (double walled, BPA free, bamboo lid and carry handle 600ml/1l)
We are taking pre-orders now! for $30 each, as a members special. Just send an email to the shop nominating how many items, and what size of each.
As well as that, we are very excited to announce the following acts:
Scott Hone! The BMX Bandit himself Scott has toured worldwide with Circus OZ, and now brings us an amazing hour of big BMX tricks in this fabulous family-friendly show.
Children Are Stinky! This award winning kids show dares to challenge kids in the audience to prove their strength, their smarts, their...stench? Performing to sell out crowds around the world, this is a great fun circus show not to be missed.
The Dummies! The Dummies have come to Canberra and this one's for the grown-ups and older teens. The Dummies are solving mysteries in this noir-themed, circus-packed comedy show. Since arriving on the scene just over a decade ago, the Dummies have been zipping around the world with an ever-increasing repertoire, winning awards, packing houses and receiving rave reviews.
BOSS SQUAAAD: This all-female and non-binary circus show has been kicking goals all over the place, and we are THRILLED to have them come to Canberra. Teeter, juggling, acrobatics and more in this all-in, all ages show that doesn't hold back.
Tickets for all shows are now on sale through sticky tickets - click the links above to check them out!
As part of the festival, we will also be running skills intensives with some of our special guests, teaching their specialties. We can confirm we will be running workshops in German Wheel from the amazing Hannah Cryle, and Scott Hone will be riding around showing you a trick or five on the BMX, if you got one! There will also be masterclasses in tumbling and acrobatic skills, and plenty more workshop announcements to come.

Meet Our New Trainers!
Some of you might have noticed some great new faces around our spaces, and it gives us great pleasure to welcome Maisie, Megan and Scotty to the training floor.
All three trainers have deep knowledge and experience, with backgrounds from the Sydney circus scene, the Flying Fruit Flies, and NICA.
We would like to extend our thanks to all three of our new employees for jumping aboard, and we hope you will get a chance to see them teaching your classes soon!
Happy Rigging Update Month!
We want to extend our thanks to our Rigger, Bernard, for updating all the rigging in our spaces right now.
Twice a year, Warehous Circus has to check every single piece of rigging that a person might hang off, climb up, swing from, jump off, and for the last few checks we have been very lucky to have local rigger Bernard Bru.
A gifted aerialist, Bernard has toured the world as a performer and fully qualified rigger, and now is based in Canberra, where we are very fortunate he does work for us!
Bernard has updated and upgraded a lot of the rigging equipment in the space these last two weeks, and we are very grateful for his time and effort.
Covid Preparedness Update
We at Warehouse are keeping a close eye on the evolving Covid activity in NSW and surrounds. The response of the ACT Government has been swift and sure, and whilst we do not anticipate a lockdown occurring in Canberra we are still preparing contingency plans should the situation change. Warehouse Circus' last response to a lockdown was quick and well managed, our staff came together to ensure all our members could stay connected, and we are remaining dedicated to keeping participants active and engaged no matter what pandemic situations get thrown our way!
NICA Auditions - Closing August 30
The National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne are holding auditions for their 2022 intake!
This is the only place in Australia where you can obtain your Cert IV or Bachelor in Circus Arts - it’s a fantastic springboard into a career in Circus.
You can find full info about their auditions and requirements here - including a handy video outlining suggested skills to be training.
